Mr. Dorso began his career in the amusement industry in 1974 when he entered the family business.  A business with roots in the amusement industry dating back to 1920.  Mr. Dorso quickly grasped every aspect of the business and by 1979 took full control of the company at the age of 23.  With hands-on management style and entrepreneurial spirit, he made a decision to expand and diversify from the company’s modest base.

1980:  State Fair Supply was established, a wholesale division adding to the existing concessions operation

1984:  State Fair Supply began manufacturing amusement games, which are now sold worldwide

1987:  State Fair began creating and organizing events throughout New Jersey and New York

1988:  State Fair Trailer Sales, a Wells Cargo distributorship, was launched

1989:  Dorso Realty Group was formed to purchase, develop, and manage business properties for subsidiaries; consolidating State Fair’s operation in Belleville, NJ after purchasing and developing a 6-acre parcel of land adjacent to Route 21. 

1990:  The State Fair Superstore, a retail operation specializing in seasonal merchandise was established featuring the largest Halloween store in the Northeast. 

1992:  State Fair Amusements through aggressive acquisitions in New Jersey and New York has become the largest supplier of bazaar equipment in America. 

1996:  An 8-acre site was purchased and developed on Route 23 in Pompton Plains, NJ launching a start-up, Pompton Honda-Suzuki-Cannondale Motorcycle Dealership.

1998:  State Fair entered into the bingo supply industry forming a company now known as Continental State Fair Bingo – now the largest distributor of bingo supplies and machines in the Tri-State area. 

The growth and success of State Fair can be attributed to Mr. Dorso’s vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and his leadership qualities including his ability to assemble winning teams. 

His commitment to excellence and his dedication to service are evidenced in his life’s work as well as his personal life.  Mr. Dorso is a respected member in both his business community and the community he calls home.
